New Pics of Tyce and Family

Here are some more photos of Tyce and family. Things have been going really well - Tyce is now only waking up about 1 to 2 times each night and seems to be eating a lot.

Pics and Video of Tyce Jensen

Here are some pics of Tyce.

The Birth of Tyce - "And then there were THREE"

Well the Jensen family got a little bit bigger on Friday night. Tyce Andrew Jensen was born at 8:59 pm (after only 14 min of pushing). He weighed 7.1 lbs and was 19.5 inch long. He had an alien shaped head (which has since been reshaped to a normal looking baby head), with light brownish hair.

After he was born we had a little scare, we learned that he had inhaled/swallowed a lot of maconium. When he first came out he had a great strong cry but after 30 or 40 seconds it was replaced with wheezing and grunting - he was struggling to breathe due to the maconium. So instead of the us being able to enjoy the delivery process he was quickly cleaned up and taken to the nursery. Dad had to follow while holding an oxygen tube next to his mouth and nose. Tyce had about 4 nurses attending to him. One nurse keep rubbing his back saying, "keep taking those breaths baby, keep taking those breaths". For a first time Dad those aren't the words I wanted to hear - I was definitely worried - you could see that he was having a hard time breathing by the way he was gasping for breaths.

However, after an IV, oxygen tubes, 2 chest x-rays, blood tests, monitors hooked up to him, a tube down his throat, a few shots, and about an hour later he was doing well and was able to breath on his own (it wasn't fun for Dad to see this happen to his little boy). The nurses said that he had taken in a lot of maconium and because of that he tried to take some very deep breaths and in the process partially collapsed a lung and there were also a lot of air bubbles around his lungs which were the reasons why it was so hard to breathe. With time the problem began to fix itself. The next morning Tyce was doing great and the doctors were really impressed with how faced he recovered (that next morning another baby with the same issue was life flighted to SLC). We definitely thank our Heavenly Father for the blessings.

Although we are happy to be home it was a fun two days in the hospital. Tricia did great, she made her husband very proud. At any rate, Tyce is doing good and its nice to have him home. Now Dad is just counting down the days until he can mow the lawn, go fishing, swing the golf club, and weed the garden.
